BARB DAY
Director/Lead Teacher
Barb began as an assistant teacher at Burr Coopin 1996,
was lead teacher for several years, and became Director of the school
in 2005. After graduating from Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota,
she began working in the field of early education at several childcare
centers and after school programs. After her youngest child entered the
first grade, she came to work here at Burr Coop. Both her children attended
cooperative preschools and she is committed to this educational model.
Barb lives in Newton and has two teenage children
and three cats (down from a high of ten). Her hobbies include reading fiction and listening to different kinds of music.
In the classroom she enjoys reading stories to the children and introducing them to new materials and experiences.
Her greatest delight is watching the development of the children's social skills and sense of community unfold as the
year progresses.

JEANNE TIEDEMANN
Teacher
Jeanne has been teaching at Burr Coop since the fall
of 2002, and is in the classroom Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Her own
daughters went to a cooperative nursery school when they were young, so
she has grown to love and respect the cooperative model from the perspective
of both parent and teacher.
Jeanne has an undergraduate degree in international
studies and has taken a number of graduate courses in education at Lesley
College. Before coming to Burr Coop, she worked as a kindergarten aide
at Mason-Rice Elementary School in Newton. She currently works with Boston
Ballet / City Dance. She has recently developed an interest in the Italian Reggio
Emilia model of early education, which has been recognized as one of
the best preschool models in the world. She has two bunnies (Lou Lou and
LaLa) and a dog (Archie). She loves messy projects, cooking, eating chocolate,
figure skating, and visiting London.
